Highway Safety Programs

Behind-the-Wheel Driving Instruction

This program is the "hands on" portion to the Highway Safety Classroom Instruction Program. In the BTW Driving Instruction Program the instructor will take a student out for an actual drive and have the student practice the safe driving techniques that were discussed previously in the classroom instruction. The instructor will complete an evaluation/check sheet for each student. The goal is for the student to develop safe driving skills, which can be utilized on and off the job.

  • The cost for this BTW program is $60.00/hour.

  • For BTWs conducted outside of Hilo, costs for this program will be higher.

  • Most experienced drivers would require 1 – 2 hours to complete this session.

  • The client’s vehicle will be used for this program.
